Cell Wall Dynamics and Developmental Plasticity

The long-term goal of our research is to understand dynamic architecture of plant cell wall during plant development and in response with external stimuli and identify spatiotemporal signaling and genetic networks that govern the functions and structure of plant cell wall in mechanical support, protection, and perception of microenvironment. To achieve this goal, I have outlined the following research aims:

Subject 1. Spatiotemporal regulatory mechanisms of protective layer formation after absicssion.
Subject 2. Cell wall remodeling during wound healing reponse.
Subject 3. Cell Biological features in response to pathogen attack.
Subject 4. Molecular mechanisms of airspace and aerenchyma formation.
Subject 5. Understanding evolution for adaption to aquatic environments (duckweeds).
