Questions:

1. Do BR pathways and enzymes emerge before or after the invasion to land? The development of 3-D growth?

2. Brassinolide appears to be missing in the grasses. Was this lost from the monocots or gained in the dicots?

3. Are there additional likely BR biosyntetic enzymes in the monocots missed by BLAST searches that can be inferred by phylogenetic relatedness?

4. If RT-PCR primers are developed to the “complete” set of likely and demonstrated BR genes are expression of these genes affected by BR knockout mutants (e.g. na4, na1, lil) in maize or by PCZ treatment of monocots (setaria, sorghum, maize)?
