Research Interests
In-vitro propagation delivers powerful methods for the mass multiplication, germplasm conservation, and genetic modification of economically important species. It is aimed to produce clonal plants and establish reliable genetic modification method to enhance certain qualities of plants for improved aesthetics and durability. My research focuses on the establishment of micropropagation and genetic transformation of Viola species. Using the techniques, I will further study the biochemistry of medicinally important compounds produced by Viola and the effect of ploidy levels on the divergence of coloration and organ size of flowers during the evolution of Viola species.
