Research Interests
Plants, sessile organisms, are exposed to various environmental conditions during their lifespan in one position. To cope with the ever-changing environments, plants continuously respond to and alter their developmental programs, resulting in the plasticity in their organ development. I'm interested in the reproductive strategies of angiosperms, the flowering plants, and the evolutionary divergence in flower functions. Variations in anatomy and behaviors of flowers diversify the patterns of reproduction and maximize the reproductive success in higher plants. By studying Viola as a model organism, I aim to elucidate the mechanisms of seed dispersal and pollination evolved via the behavioral differentiation of plant reproductive organs.
