Research Interests
My main focus of research has been on behavioural ecology of tropical seabirds, primarily looking at parental care. More recently during my PhD I studied parental behaviour and health status of a population of blue-footed boobies (Sula nebouxii) combining field observations and lab-based techniques. At the moment I am studying the structure of microbial communities in soil in relation to spatial and environmental factors. In the future I expect to combine my experience in both behavioural ecology and microbiology to gain a better understanding of the role microorganisms have played in shaping behaviours and life-history strategies in macro organisms.
