예쁜꼬마선충으로 도전하는 생물학 난제

개요: 본 강의에서는 모델 생물로서의 예쁜꼬마선충을 소개하고 본
연구실에서 진행하고 있는 연구 프로젝트의 현황을 공유하고 토의하고자 한다.
본 연구실의 주된 연구 주제는 1) telomere maintenance without telomerase 2)
Korean nematode project and chromosome evolution 3) Hpo signaling in cell
integrity 4) Novelty in evolution by protein isoforms 5) Hitch-hiking behavior
and neural circuit 등이다. 이번 강의에서는 특히 신경회로의 발생 유연성과
커넥톰이라는 주제에 대해 소개하고자 한다.
Abstract: The nematode C. elegans is a model organism suitable for studying
development and the nervous system. My lab has been studying the mechanisms of
telomere maintenance in the absence of telomerase and is extending our findings to
mammals. Other projects include Korean nematode project and chromosome
evolution; Hpo signaling in cell integrity; Novelty in evolution by protein isoforms,
and Hitch-hiking behavior and neural circuit. The project to be presented at this
lecture is to elucidate the neural circuit of a dispersal behavior of the nematode named
nictation. We are also pursuing toward the completion of a connectome of a specific
developmental stage to understand the developmental plasticity of the nervous
system. I will present up-to-date progress of these projects and will deeply appreciate
any constructive criticism.
