This institute was established on November 21st, 1990, as an affiliate of College of Natural Sciences. On March 1st, 1997, it was legalized as Microbiology Institute under the branch of College of Natural Sciences. Historically the nation’s first educational institution of microbiology, Microbiology Department at College of Natural Sciences serves as a foundational platform along with Molecular Microbiology Research Center by which domestic scientists with microbiological expertise are brought together, thereby allowing us to establish a network of collaborations and expand knowledge of the world.
Basic microbiology as well as applied microbiology research is ongoing here at Microbiology Institute. Each lab is focused on one of the following areas of research: Biophysics, Microbioecology, Molecular Microbiology, Microbiophysiology, Immunology, Bacteriology, Bioinfomatics, and Molecular Cellular Proteomics.
A. Perform joint research on microorganisms
B. Support education and training of researchers and graduate students
C. Establish collaborative research with corporations and other domestic and international facilities
D. Secure, manage, and provide scientific information
E. Collect, separate, store, classify, and supply different types of microorganism strains
