Establishment of School of Biological Sciences
2000 ~ Present

March 1, 2000 All faculties from Departments of Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, seven faculties from Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics (IMBG), and three faculties from Department of Biological Education came together as one integrative School of Biological Sciences

Reorganization into Departments of Biology, Molecular Biology, and Microbiology
1990’s

March 1, 1991 Departments of Botany, Zoology, and Microbiology were renamed as Departments of Biology, Molecular Biology, and Microbiology

Establishment of Department of Zoology, Botany, and Microbiology
1950 ~ 1989

March 3, 1959 Department of Biology was reestablished into two separate departments: Departments of Zoology and Botany
April 6, 1961 Graduate program of the Department of Biology was reestablished into Departments of Zoology and Botany
December 24, 1969 Establishment of Department of Microbiology
February 28, 1975 Departments of Zoology, Botany, and Microbiology were transferred from College of Liberal Arts & Science to College of Natural Sciences
March 1, 1975 Relocation from College of Liberal Arts & Science in Dong-soong-dong to Gwanak campus

Establishment of Department of Biology
1940’s

August 22, 1946 In accordance with “Seoul National University Establishment Order,” Seoul National University was founded comprising nine colleges, one of which was Liberal Arts & Sciences.
September 1946 Department of Biology was established under College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.
